Havenwise can work with both cascade and hybrid setups, although these are less common among our users. The app is designed to support a range of heat pump configurations, and we have connected several cascade systems in the past. However, as these setups are less frequently used, they are not as extensively tested as single heat pump systems. Below is how we typically work with these setups.
Cascade Systems
Cascade systems involve multiple heat pumps working together under a shared control system. Havenwise supports cascade setups depending on how the heat pumps are configured:
Shared Controller: If two or more heat pumps in a cascade are controlled by a single controller, they are treated as one unified system by Havenwise. The app views and manages this setup as a single heat pump under a single account.
Independent Controllers: If each heat pump in the cascade has its own FTC and operates as a separate system, you will need to create a separate Havenwise account for each heat pump. This ensures proper management and control of both systems through the app.
Hybrid Systems
Havenwise can also work with a hybrid heating systems that use a combination of heat pumps and other heating devices, such as gas boilers. For example:
Vaillant Hybrid Systems: If your setup includes a Vaillant gas boiler and a heat pump controlled by a Vaillant controller, Havenwise can integrate into the system. The app follows the hybrid control logic, where the gas boiler takes over heating when required.
