How do setpoints and schedules work on the Havenwise app?

Havenwise works a bit differently to the classic thermostat on a gas boiler. Instead of waiting until the scheduled time to start achieving the desired temperature, Havenwise instead works to achieve your requested temperature, or set point, at the desired time.

How does this work in practice?

If you set a 22c heating set point for 11am, Havenwise will work backwards and plan your heating schedule to ensure it is 22c at 11am. This is different to a classic thermostat on a gas boiler, which only starts to work at the scheduled time. When it comes to setting up a schedule in the Havenwise app, you should simply choose the temperature you want at the time you need it - there's no need to try and plan ahead.

The same logic also applies to hot water. Because hot water is an excellent store of heat, we can run your hot water cycle far in advance and still have it ready at the desired temperature in time. This allows to take advantage of warmer outdoor temperatures and cheap tariff periods and means you can heat your hot water for less. Simply set the hot water to the desired temperature at the time you need it

Hysteresis and hot water cycles

We also use hysteresis logic to ensure maximum efficiency. That means we will only reheat your hot water if it is 6-7c colder than the desired temperature. This avoids unnecessary and inefficient reheating cycles.
