Setting an appropriate hot water schedule in the Havenwise app so you don't run out of hot water

When setting a hot water schedule in the Havenwise app, include a set point for times where you / your family consume a considerable amount of hot water. For instance for showers or baths. Havenwise will make sure your cylinder is heated up by that time.

How it works

When setting a hot water schedule in the Havenwise app, you choose when you want the hot water cylinder to be at a target temperature. Havenwise will make sure your cylinder is heated up before that time, and will do so in the most cost-effective way.

If you are on a time-of-use tariff, Havenwise will automatically take this into account.

Havenwise will not continuously reheat the cylinder because that's inefficient and will cost you more. That means the hot water tank will only reheat in preparation of a setpoint.

Getting started

  • Start simple → begin with just 1 or 2 set points per day (e.g. 06:00 if you want hot water for morning showers).

  • If not enough, adjust the target temperature first → if you run out, increase the target in steps (e.g. 45 °C → 50 °C → 55 °C).

  • Add more set points if needed → for example, add a second one in the evening if the cylinder does not hold sufficient volume to last the whole day.

  • Avoid setting lots of set points from the start. It makes the system less efficient and is often not needed.

Tip: Most of our users only need 1-3 set points per day.
