Why do I see a target temperature on my heat pump controller that is not the same as in the Havenwise app?

Clearing the confusion on odd temperatures on your controller or manufacturers app

It is normal to see a different temperature on your controller or manufacturer's app. This is a consequence of how Havenwise optimises your heat pump, and doesn't mean we are actually trying to achieve the temperatures you see.

When the Havenwise optimisation is enabled, Havenwise will aim to achieve your comfort schedules for heating and hot water in the cheapest possible way. In order to do so, we send several commands to the heat pump to make sure the heat pump operates the way we want it. As a result, Havenwise sets these to avoid interference with the Havenwise logic.

What does this look like in practice?

For Vaillant heat pumps:

The target room temperature that you see on the sensoCOMFORT or in the Vaillant app will vary. When Havenwise wants the heating to be off, the room temperature target will be set to 10°C. When Havenwise wants the heat pump to be heating, the target room temperature will be a bit above the measured room temperature.

For Mitsubishi heat pumps:

You will see that the target room temperature on the Mitsubishi controller / wireless room thermostat or in the Melcloud app will be 29.5°C.
